The BCATA is committed to supporting photo educators through curriculum development, professional development, and the exchange of ideas in a professional learning community.
Our 2010 conference, held in Salmon Arm provided a full strand of photo educators’ workshops, and at our AGM, we passed a motion changing our newsletter description to read as follows: “Visually Speaking: Studio & Media Arts Resource of the B.C. Art Teachers’ Association”. Each issue of the newsletter since then includes a media educators’ lesson plan aimed at photographic and/or digital media.
We welcome sessions aimed at photo educators at each of our conferences, and encourage interested teachers to submit workshop proposals.
Our media rep is Laura Hackett (firstname.lastname@example.org).
“If a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it’s as though I’ve neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up.” – Richard Avedon
